Take a photo of the water-heater label

Every water heater has a printed plate from the manufacturer. It is the label with the model number and the gallons on it.

• • Usually on the front or side of the tank, about chest height.
• • On a tankless unit, on the front cover or underneath.
• • Get close enough that you could read the small print yourself.
